This replacement chuck and key assembly is a genuine OEM part. It is specially manufactured for use with Bosch and Skil drills. This chuck is used to secure the drill bits. As the key is turned, the top of the chuck moves upward, forcing the jaws to tighten around the drill bit. If your drill's bit retention is suffering, the rotation feels stiff, or the chuck has seized up entirely, a new chuck should fix the problem. This kit includes one metal drill chuck and one metal chuck key. Please note, the screw to secure the chuck is sold separately.

Semi retired now and it needed a fix up for use.
The chuck did not have a retainer screw as I found out after drilling out the stop end ( like many I thought the retainer screw was stripped ).
I used the proper wrench on the shaft before the chuck, used a 1/2 hex key in the chuck, and with a small breaker bar while supporting the drill, the old chuck broke free.
The replacement parts ( no retainer screw needed ) are functioning properly.
