Question: Jamming

McClellan

My NV65AH siding nailer jams every time I insert a new coil. The first time you fire it it feeds two nails. After levering the whole mess out of the siding and driving the bent up jammed nails out it works fine until the next coil. Have tried all sorts of positioning withe the coils to no avail. Any suggestions?

It is a really easy fix. just replace the O ring on the driver.

Question: Nail Gun Has No Pressure At Trig...

marke schnackenberg

Hello,
I have a Hitachi NV 65AH, coil siding nailer, that has no pressure at the trigger. The trigger is limp for lack a better word when the gun is connected to the air hose with full pressure, of course.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
How do you get the valve bushing out of the nail gun body?
Does this part screw into the body or is it just pressed in ?
Tim
Question: Hitachi NV65AH Part (?)

Tim

I overtightened the threaded male coupler at the base of one of my Hitachi NV65AH nail guns, and the piece at the bottom of the gun cracked, causing air to leak out at a fairly rapid pace when attached to an air hose/compressor. By the diagram listed on your site (a very helpful one too, I might add), it looks like the part I need is: 880-379, and is called the "cap". It is difficult to see the part because of the angle, but I suspect this is the right part number (#49 on your list of parts). Please advise. Thanks. Tim, Tekton Construction

Review: Hitachi - NV65AH

we bought two of these and one makita all at the same time. we have used them for maybe three years at the most, and at that, not that much. Perhaps the equivalent of 5 large houses split with three tools. While we liked them a bunch when they were new, it now appears that the hitachi is not very happy with generic nails, while the makita continues to be trouble free. Basically the Hitachi would jam so frequently that we gave up on them. I am going to rebuild them and see what that does, but at this point I am inclined to repair them and then sell them at a good deal. I could try to only use nails that don't jam, but I'm not even sure how I would do this. PLus, in the long run, if the machine lasts as it ought, the nails are a much bigger expense than the tools themselves, so this is troubling, especially so because I have previously had a preference for Hitachi. So it goes.

I have had a similar experience. I have been using 1 1/2 inch Bostich siding nails and every other nail has been jamming. Today the plunger snapped when I tried to unjam the gun. I have only put a case and a half of siding nails through this thing. It was a great gun for the first box of nails now it is a POS I have to fix.

Sub par junk if a tool with infrequent use won't work and jams. I was very happy until it started to crap out. Tools should make money not cost double and force me to lose a day fixing the thing.

I've had mine (and frequently use) so long that it's no longer "green" but it's silver with little or no paint left on it. The safety is now getting worn, thus the need for some parts. I have, over time, found a bit of a problem with generic nails not feeding quite as they should. As Andy said, I've been using Bostitch nails. I've found that if you put your finger inside the roll, and spin it to make the center of the nails loose on the nail holder shaft, they will feed fine and jamb free. I love mine. It has been very dependable. I can't say the same for my Porter. It leaves nails sticking way out constantly. Even when it's plugged into the same compressor as the Hitachi.

I hope you're not using ring shank; I find they bend too much and/or your nails are too long. Hot dipped nails work best and are slightly thicker. If your nails are too long, it may bend the shaft or round the tipe (replace it).
