Discussion for the Hitachi EC119 Portable 2.5 HP Peak Oil Lubricated Electric Air Compressor
my compressor has problems starting up when cold. the motor strains and turns slowly until it pops the breaker. I don't use an extension cord and the outlets I use are usually strong. It does the same thing once full when it tries to re start. It will usually run ok once it gets hot. I was told it is the start capacitor. is that correct and is it something I can fix my self? Chris
The problem sounds like it may be caused by a bad check valve to me. It the check valve isn't closing all the way it will allow pressurized air from the tank to bleed back to the cylinder. The pressurized air sitting in the cylinder will cause hard starting issues and will sometimes pop the breaker. I would start by replacing the valve. It is part #160-591.
What is the sequence for installing the wires on the capacitors I've just replaced? There are four connectors on one of them and two on the other. I know that there is a connector wire between the two but am not sure about which is up ,down, right ,left, of all the plugs. Help?
My compressor builds to regulated pressure and the motor stops.
When the motor tries to restart to rebuild pressure, the motor stalls and the circuit breaker (black button) pops out and stops the stalled motor. It almost sounds like a car engine stalling when starting forward in too high a gear (standard transmission. Any suggestions?
My compressor runs and brings the tank and regulated pressure up and then turns off as it should. When I plug in an air supply line the regulated pressure drops to zero and then slowly builds up. It supplies air to the tools is in bursts. Is this a sign that the pressure reducer is bad?
