Bit broke off in the anvil

Stephanie - June 25, 2019
Tool Type

Impact Driver

Difficulty

Medium

Time

1-2 hours

Tools Used

Screwdriver, Pliers, Snap ring pliers, torx bits

Remived the case screws & seperated the case.
lifted the motor and gear case assembly up out of the housing.
slid the gear case assembly off.
conpared the two parts side by side and discovered differences despite having the correct model number.

I further dismantled the gear cases removing the anvil and locking collar + washer & spring.
push the lock collar down (with a bit installed) to expose the c clip.
Remove the clip, and slowly remove the collar, spring, and washer being sure to note their order.
swap the new parts to the old case and reassemble. Be sure the c clip is locked in place fully - it will shoot off when you use the impact if not!
