Easy repair, Id order again in a second
There was really nothing wrong with my trimmers gearbox, but the entire bump head assembly was worn and needed replacing. Ordering this included all of the parts for both the gearbox and the bump head (even came preloaded with trimmer line). All I needed to do was unscrew 3 screws, slide on the assembly and the tighten 3 new screws. Definitely the way to go! Shipping was quick 4 days (even during COVID) and buying the full assembly this was cost about half as much as ordering the individual replacement parts.

The gears were ground to nothing. There weren't any teeth on either gear.

It was an easy fix. Philips screw driver. Three screws to take gear box off the shaft, and three screws to put the new one on, and tighten the screws up. Good as new.

Trimmer was erratic, off-balance, jumpy. With the motor off, spinning the end by hand, you could feel a bearing was bad.

Unscrewed the old gear box and screwed the new one on...worked fine, plus I like the lighter string that came with it. Been using .095 but the 080 feels smoother. Then I ordered two new sealed bearings from and installed them in the old gearbox, so I have a spare.

Bearings in gear box went out

    Screwdriver, grease

Bearings in old gear box that holds the trimmer head went out fairly fast. Bought the gear box assembly and it's 3 star bit screws to remove the old one and also to install the new one. Upon removing the old one I opened it up and noticed there was only a small amount of grease in the assembly. When the new one came in I opened it as well to make sure the little bearings had grease in them and they didn't. That makes since as to why the old ones didn't last so long. I removed the new bearings and packed them with grease as best as I could. Moral of the story is bearings need some type of grease or they wear out quickly. Easy fix as far replacing the trimmer gear box goes but you might need a little experience on packing the bearings with grease.
