Bevel gear on chainsaw tensioner stripped

I had to remove the cover which is the same cover you remove to replace the chain. I then had to remove 3 tiny screws which hold the tension gear assembly cover. The tension gear slips into a plastic housing which keeps the tension gear in place. The tension screw fits through the gear and through the plastic housing. I then reattached the tension gear assembly cover (with the 3 tiny screws) and reattach the chain saw cover.
When you rotate the chain saw tension screw it turns the tension gear and adjusts the tension on the chain saw. Very easy.

1. Removed clutch/sprocket cover
2. Removed chain and bar
3. Removed tensioner plate from clutch/sprocket cover using Phillips head screwdriver (2 screws)
4. Disassembled the 5 parts making up the tensioner assembly pulling out with pliers
5. Replaced with the 5 purchased replacement parts
6. Reassembled in reverse order
A relatively easy job. Just a little tricky pulling out assembly. Use pliers on the protruding portion that fits in chain bar and pull straight up. Upon reassembly, make sure the plastic/nylon collar is fully seated. An easy 30 buck fix. (Probably could have reused a couple of the old parts but had rather start brand new for the cost.)

Couldn't adjust tension on the cutting chain...bevel had several missing teeth

Removed chain cover; cleaned debris from chain, clutch, tension adjustment mechanism; replaced broken bevel and reassembled mechanism; reinstalled cover. Less than thirty minutes to complete repair.

I removed the bar and chain from the unit, then with a phillips head screw driver, I removed the sprocket guard and lifted out the two small bevel gears, chain tensioner, tensioner bolt and collar which are one small unit. I replaced these with the new parts. I then replaced the chain and bar and replaced the housing. I was then back in business.

chain adjustment was worn, and clutch needed replacment

Adjuster was replaced easily. The clutch tool keeps slipping away from old clutch and I've not gotten it off yet to replace it. I am going to try again and may get another set of hands to help. I do know it goes on reverse.

Chain tensioner assembly gears were chewed up. Chain would not hold tension.

Removed two nuts holding chainsaw bar. Removed chain tensioner assembly cover. Removed bar and chain. Removed Phillips screw securing tensioner assembly plate. Removed plate and then small plastic cover to exposed bevel gears. Replace damaged bevel gears in the tensioner assembly. Reinstall black plastic bevel gear cover and the assembly plate cover. Tighten small Phillips screw to secure the plate, reinstall bar and chain, and secure bar with plastic cover, set bar, and tension the chain pet owners manual.
