All fuel lines dissolved from age, crumbled and broken.
I have 1996 poulan 2550 super clean 18" chain saw , last used it in 2005,pulled out of storage to use and primer bulb was cracked, so I purchased new fuel lines, bulb, air and fuel filter. The repair went fairly easy, 3 screws to remove air filter top cover, 4 screws side cover with pull start, 2 nuts that retain air plenum, and carburetor, disconect throttle linkage with needlenose pliers, move air plenum with throttle cable to left side, then able to slide carb and choke lever back to gain access to tank inlet(left side) and return(right side). Removed old line stuck in inlet and return with small diameter philips screw driver, they just tapped through, fished out old fuel filter and bits of old line with hemo stats, new fuel lines had diagonal cut at end which I put white lube on outside of hose at end and fed through holes, large dia is return, small dia is feed, enough to reach in with hemo stats and tug through( hardest part of repair). The next hardest part was figuring out lines, I found a youtube that ereplacementparts did in 2009 that helped me determine that starting from bulb center large dia to return in tank, small dia from bulb goes to top rh side of carb, bottom left side of carb to small dia inlet side of tank, pulled small line from tank and put fuel filter on, lays flat on bottom of tank.I slid the carb back down on studs making sure fuel lines are clear , move air plenum up to carb, then install throttle linkage with needle nose pliers, push air plenum on studs and thread nuts on and tighten evenly , put dab of 30w non detergent oil on foam air cleaner worked in, plulled spark plug , was clean and in good condition. replaced starter housing and top cover, repair time was approximately 1 hour, including coffee break, everything worked fine. Don :)

Trimmer wouldn't start as the bulb would not fill with gas. I also had to replace the fuel line as I pulled it out of the gas tank and couldn't get it back in.
It was really easy as replacing the filter was just removing the old and replacing with the new. I had pulled the old gas line out of the gas tank and couldn't get it back in but the new one I bought already had an angle cut end and it went right in. The air filter was also easy to replace.

The biggest challenge since this was the first time I replaced a fuel line was learning how to put a fuel line in the gas tank. After trying to put my old one back in for about 30 minutes I found the answer on google and learned the end you will insert needs to be cut at an angle so it goes into the tank.

The fuel system disintegrates from the ethanol in gasoline, so I ordered the necessary parts; fuel filter and fuel line, purge line (different size), and a primer bulb, if one is needed.. If the primer bulb is tore, cracked, or makes a whistling sound, replace it first. Get a diagram online if your fuel lines are in pieces, but if they are intact, remove the fuel line from the back of the primer assembly, slowly pull the fuel filter and fuel line out through the fuel fill port. Cut your new fuel line's end at a diagonal, so that you can insert it through the hole in the gas tank. Slowly push enough through until you can grab it from the fuel fill port. Cut off this diagonal piece so that the end is once again square, and install your new fuel filter. Pull the fuel line back enough so the fuel filter is at an appropriate pickup point, I.e., close to the bottom of the tank while running. Cut the fuel line so that it just connects with the primer assembly. Remove the purge line from the primer assembly and use it to cut a new purge line slightly longer, with a diagonal cut on one end. Feed the diagonal end through the tank wall, and connect the other end to the primer assembly. I was able to do my 2 machines from one fuel line and purge line kit.

Replaced the in line fuel filter as shown in excellent video. Still did not work. Started taking screws out to see how to replace fuel lines and found a screw had come loose to the carburetor. I took off carburetor and cleans with alcohol and q tips plus soft rag. Put back together and it started. It was nice knowing all three parts were inexpensive and I had web support. Thanks
