Belt Burnt off
You need to fit the belt to the small pulley first. Then feed belt around the large pulley with the assistance of a screwdriver (small screwdriver). I used an electrical screwdriver. Insure belt is aligned with the pulley grooves. Insure the Planer blade holder bearings are good before doing the repair. (The reason my belt burnt off was the bearings went bad). I have been using the planer for 12 years with out loosing a belt.

Belt shredded as wood was started into the unit.
Disconnected power from the unit and loosened drive side top cover.
Removed the side cover from the planer.
Removed the remnants of the old belt and shreds from behind the pulley.
Verified the drive pulley and driven pulley turned freely. (this part took about 20 minutes)

When the new belt came in it was placed about half on the driven pulley and just started it onto the drive pulley.
Turned the driven pulley while pushing the center of the open span of the belt toward the planer housing as the drive pulley rotated, allowing the belt to creep onto the drive pulley.
As the belt moved onto the drive pulley the same technique was used to get the belt aligned properly on the driven pulley.
When belt was was in place, the pulleys were rotated several times to make certain alignment was correct.
With belt aligned properly on both pulleys, the machine was cleared and foreign materials.
Power was applied with quick on/off to verify the belt would not creep under power.
After confirming the belt would not creep the side cover was replaced and top secured. (this part took about 10 minutes)
The unit was then put back in use.

The drive belt broke.
I took off the three "cowls", cleaned up the moving parts, and put the new belt on. The only thing special was to heat the belt in almost boiling water long enough to stretch the belt so it would fit. That took maybe fifteen minutes.

Chains had frozen and one gear broke.
1.Dismantled the top and side to see inside.
2.Removed drive belt and chains and broken gears.
3.Cleaned chains to unfreeze them and found the chassis had cracked and broken in half.
4.Stared the reassemble with the gears and drive belt. the latter was just a exercise of muscles to get it on.
5. The chassis I used the J.B.Weld epoxy which is very strong and have used it many times before.
6.Completed the assembly and ran the unit and tested it out with no problems.

Drive belt broke
This was second belt I installed. The first broke almost immediately because I did not notice that the pulley was loose and the belt came off and rubbed against the support post and shredded.
Made sure pulley was secure before installing this one. Pulley nut is reverse threaded and must be tightened counter clockwise. Install on small pulley first .
