Old Belt was slipping until saw would hardly cut.
Turn table saw upside down. Use angle setting to raise the end with the plastic cover that covers the belt. Use phillips screwdriver to remove four screws of cover. On the motor shaft there is a small cover held in position with 1 phillips screw. Remove it - might need to wrap shaft and hold it with pliers to remove screw. Remove old belt. New belt will be tight but I was able to push it on and turn the shaft until it worked its way all the way on. Replace the cover on the motor shaft by installing and lighting the phillips screw. Replace the plastic cover (4 screws) and turn the saw upright..

    Belt was torn.
I removed the saw stand, then turned the saw over. I removed the black cover at the end of the motor, and removed the old belt and cleaned out the area. I then started working the new belt on the shaft and pulley, starting on the edges, then while rotating the belt, pushing it onto the shaft and pulley all the way.

All the teeth on the belt were missing after owning this machine for 16 years.
It was extremely helpful that someone else had provided really good instructions. My only addition would be to take the base off the saw and turn it upside down on a low stool.

Belt was worn and teeth were tearing off, cover was cracked and chipped. I also replaced brushes at this time which I already had.
Unplug saw and remove blade. Vac and blowgun saw dust. Turn saw over, remove bottom half of base. Remove motor, leave electrical intact, no need to take motor to bench. Remove belt cover. Remove belt retainer washer and belt. Make sure pulleys are clean. Replace belt, washer and cover. I use a small drop of blue Loctite on all screws and bolts. If replacing brushes, unscrew brush covers and pull out old brushes. Look at armature with flashlight while turning and check for damage. Replace brushes and covers. Clean motor mount and install motor. Make sure mating surfaces and alignments pins are clean and burr-free. Replace base, turn saw over, install blade and check alignment. Plug in saw, cut wood.

  • Successful repair by a novice
The drive belt in my Delta table saw broke and, not knowing much about this kind of machinery, I was afraid I would have to send it out for repair. But the local repair place couldn't get to my saw for at least six weeks, so I decided to see what I could do myself. After watching a You Tube video (everything imaginable is out there) I was able to get at the motor casing and uncover the broken belt. I easily found the required belt at Replacement Parts and it arrived in a few days. My lack of experience meant that mounting the new belt took me longer than a more savvy craftsman would take, but I got it mounted and my saw is back in operation. I learned a valuable lesson about what is possible with time, even by a novice. Thank you Replacement Parts and You Tube. John Long
