Product Description ?

This top cover is an authentic OEM replacement part supplied by the manufacturer. It is crafted specially for the Black and Decker LP1000 Alligator Lopper. This cover is made out of plastic, and it should be replaced if it is worn. It is embedded in the main plastic housing. To replace the top chain cover, part 15, almost the entire machine must be disassembled because it is embedded in the main plastic housing, no part number. This is not difficult but time consuming and the sequence to accomplish the task is linear meaning there are no real options as to the next step. The security pin in the electrical connector screw, part 12, is easily snapped out to use a standard Torx tool. The spring in the housing, on the schematic but no part number, holding the chain cover can be a little confusing on the proper installation direction but just observe it or take a photo prior to removal and it will be much easier.

The oil filler cap part 26 can be replaced at the same time.

The chain cover, part 48, helps guide the chain cover and the plastic indent where part of the cover rotates will wear out with extended use. The replacement lacks the decals but helps keep the parts tight during operation.

Overall the repair sequence is simple, the parts easily are removed and installed, and the finished product operates better.
