Is there any way to repair the leaky seam on the thermal carafe? It leaks at the seam where the plastic meets the metal. Other folks have said it is because the acid in the coffee wears away the seal. Can the seam be filled in or sealed in some way?

WJA Hello faithforhorses, Trying to decide if it is worth buying a replacement carafe for my Mr. Coffee PSTZ91. It leaked around the top of the carafe where the metal meats the plastic. Anyone else have trouble with this model's carafe leaking? DO I HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE BASKET OR CAN THE BUTTON ON BOTTOM JUST BE REPLACED. THE BUTTON HAS A SPRING AND IS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BASKET. IF I ORDER THE ENTIRE BASKET WILL THAT COME WITH A BUTTON? I was dumping the grounds and the pause-and-serve assembly came apart. I cant figure out how it goes back together and I think I must be missing a part. I have a small spring and a small plastic piece that looks like an umbrella. There is no obvious way of attaching the umbrella piece to the basket. (I am reasonably mechanically inclined.) So can anyone verify if there is a third piece to this assembly and what it looks like? Can anyone post a photo of this assembly so I can see what it is supposed to look like? I think there must be a missing piece.

WJA Hello pacoffee, This was a gift. All of a sudden I've been leaking coffee and grounds. I've cleaned it out, but the lid seems to be malfunctioning...it doesn't snap shut and you can hear the little ball rattling. I see you have discontinued the lid and we have to spend $30 for the whole carafe. I am disappointed. I've had my coffee maker for 4 mo. now and from the first use, the carafe leaked dark water from around the assembly of the black handle to the stainless steel joint.....I thought it would seal itself...but I guess not. Is this happening to anyone else?

Kynar If you put the coffee maker through a clean cycle it should go away. Fill the reservoirwith water, make sure the coffee pot and basket are empty, and then press the clean button. This should take care of this problem. The water tank leaks when attached to the body of the coffee maker, but not when it is just sitting on the counter

sean I had the same problem. All you have to do is use a paper towel and dry the water off the nipple that inserts into the coffee maker when it is set into the coffee maker.

TINMAN67 It's the crappy seal in the body of the coffee maker, not the tank itself. I bought one and the first time filling the container, it all drained on my counter. I called the warranty people they sent me another unit.... It also leaked all over the counter, I called again they sent a 3rd unit and it also leaked the whole container all over. I have 3 units that drained.... It is the silicone rubber that is suppose to seal around the little center spout under the tank, It doesn't seal correctly... I removed the rubber seal and flipped it over to the other side and it hasn't leaked since. Very Poor design.... if they would just add a stainless washer below the rubber seal it would help support that seal so it's not pushed down instead of around the spout. The silicone washer isn't just a flat washer.... it does have a rib around one side of the center whole... maybe install from the Mexican factory wrong. Internet search shows they have had trouble with this problem for a long time.

TINMAN67 I have had the same problem almost since day one but now it's so bad it leaks faster than it can brew resulting in 10 cups of water on the counter and 2 in the carafe. Biggest piece of junk I ever spent $80 for. I wish I had just bought the $35 basic machine. |
