Product Description ?

This is a genuine Ridgid replacement part, it is sold individually.
2 are needed for the tools shown below
It is always best to replace both brushes, even if only one is worn.

Worn brushes frequently are the cause behind a motor running poorly.
Replacing brushes can fix a motor that’s operating intermittently.
New brushes can restore a motor’s electric braking.

Carbon brushes are one of the most commonly replaced power tool parts. This is because carbon brushes are wear items, meaning that through friction and use they will gradually wear away until they need replacing. Worn brushes are a common causes of intermittent motor function, reduced electric braking and reduced motor power. A worn-out brush will often be worn down near to the wire lead and can be cracked, pitted, or burned. When replacing carbon brushes, be sure to inspect your armature for burns, cracks, or other damage which can indicate larger motor problems.

    replacement was simple
These brushes fit my Ridgid Power Miter saw and corrected the problem of the electric brake. The brake would not engage when the trigger was released, thus the blade would not stop turning quickly. Trouble shooting revealed the issue, thus the replacement of the brushes.

Replace brushes and things to check!
Brushes were exact replacement. You should check the back bearing, I’ve found that bearing bad multiple times on other tools that I work on and people think automatically that it’s the brushes. Good idea to replace the brushes anyways. And also clean the communtator up with some light sandpaper, your tool will run a lot better.. That’s the copper part that the brushes ride on.

    Screwdriver, Flashlight

Turned the table saw up side down to expose the motor, removed the brush caps with a stubby screw driver. Removed the brushes, they were worn badly. Needed a flashlight to see to put the new brushes in. Kinda tricky holding the spring loaded brush down while replacing the cap , but doable. Used lots of patience, and done . Turn table saw back up right, plugged in, turned on and it ran great.

Brushes did not fix the sparking motor. The old brushes were clearly damaged, so I don't know why the new ones did not do the job.

The miter saw has a motor reverse to stop the blade. I read that changing the switch or brush would likely fix the problem. In my case, they had no effect. But I kept the new switch and brushes in place. My problem was simply that the screw holding the blade in place had become loose and tightening it solved the problem.
