Discussion for the Bostitch RN46 Coil-Fed Pneumatic Roofing Nailer
If I tilt my rn46 back and forth with no nails the driver slides back and forth (will not stay in the returned position) when I opened it up, a steel ball fell out, also the piston ring didn't fit the sleeve very tightly. Thanks in advance for any asistance.
have a rn46 works great when it's warm out, but when it is cold it just blows air though center of the trigger has been cleaned and has repair kit in it please help me
The RN46 piston will not retract to the firing position. After pushing it in several times, it might start to operate and will then operate OK. However, if the air hose is removed, and pressure is lost, it is difficult to start it again.
I suspect gummed up lubricant. Would dismantling and cleaning with naptha solve my problem? Or is it a defective part?
The nail gun double fires, but only one nail comes out. Failure to advance next coil nail. Please advise what part has been damaged and needs replacing.
Thanks
Neil Chen
It may be:
There is a rubber damper ( item#61) on the piston sleeve,it controls air flow.
If it has broken or fallen down on the sleeve the piston will not hit the bumper hard enough to reset piston and not advance next nail.
I have a BOSTICH RN 46 NAILER that is feeding every other nail. Will a rebuild kit take care of this problem?. I have disassembled the feed piston assbly and cleaned it. Every thing looks good(no nicks or flat spots on o-rings). Are there any other things that could cause this problem?
A broken feed spring could be part of the problem but usually misses all not every other. The most likely cause is a worn piston o ring. The piston is not being pulled back up with each shot. If you have had a broken o ring or bumper the problem can be "trash" in the supply line from the body to the feeder valve. When the gun cycles, the exhaust goes to the feed valve to power it. It will blow any particles in the body into the supply line, and not let enough air pass to power the feed valve. Ken
