Create a Do-It-HERself List, Not a Honey-Do List
Ladies, when something breaks around the home, who fixes it? If your first instinct is to add the task to a honey-do list, you’re missing out on a valuable opportunity.
While the thought of performing a DIY repair can be intimidating, women are more than capable of fixing things when they break down. All you need to do is grab a few tools, look up a tutorial, pull up your tough-girl pants and put your mind to it. You’ll be an accomplished DIY fix-it whiz before you know it.
Take 8-year-old Aspen for example. In our latest YouTube video, Aspen is able to repair a KitchenAid mixer that no longer spins. She’s never seen the inside of a KitchenAid mixer, let alone repaired one before. Yet, with a little guidance from a how-to video, she’s able to easily perform the repair all by herself.
“Fixing the mixer was easier than I thought it would be,” said Aspen. “It was pretty cool that I could fix it myself. The only part I didn’t like was the grease.”
It just goes to show that household repairs are simpler than you might think. Even if you have no idea where to start, just being open to learning and figuring it out can give you an exhilarating sense of accomplishment.
In the past, I know I’ve been guilty of turning to one of the many men in my life to perform intimidating repairs, but after seeing Aspen repair the KitchenAid mixer like a pro, I feel more confident than ever that I am capable of repairing items around the house. After all, if a child can do it, anybody can.
