Is thre a trick to remove a stuck bit in a stripped chuck to be able to get to the retaining screw?

I removed the screw in the chuck. I placed a wrench in the chuck and hit it counterclock wise several times. The first 3-4 times made the chuck move slightly, the next hit made it move significantly. But it never came loose even after repeating several times.
