Question: RT550B Rotary Tool

why is there none available???

Hello 1179448,

If you are asking if why there is no longer a Black & Decker RT550B made. Sooner or later most manufactures will either update their existing models or discontinue manufacturing them for reasons only they know. There are a couple of rotary tool manufactures I can think of that make a good product. Dremel and Roto-Zip.

If you are looking for the 498615-03 collet nut, they are on a factory back order with no delivery date available.

Hope this helps,
-WJA

How can I get a replacement spring that connects the motor to the output shaft?

how do u loosen the collet nut to change the head?

Hello Wally,

If you press down on the lock button (item #3 on the breakdown) and rotate the shaft, the lock pin will engage the shaft, holding it in place. Then take the wrench (item #5 on the breakdown) and turn the collet nut (item #1 on the breakdown). Your collet will release from the shaft.

Hope this helps,
WJA

Question: SLOW SPEED

CHARLIE

What would cause this tool to run slow and to have no power? Do they have a set of brushes in the motor?

The spring that connects the motor to the collet shaft may have broken.

I agree 100 % with Mr. Perry. Just told there's no replacement for drive spring. Everything else is useless. What a waste !

My drive spring is also broken. No part available. No service center within >100 miles. B&D appears not to be as reliable a source of quality tools and service as they once were.
