This is an original KitchenAid part. This Flat Beater is used in all 6 quart mixers and many 5 quart mixers. Please be sure to check if your model is listed. The flat Beater is used to mix light doughs and batters. The Flat Beater can also be used to mash cooked vegetables, such as potatoes. The Flat Beater is dishwasher safe on the top rack. If the plastic coating becomes damaged or worn, then the Flat Beater will need to be replaced.
