Product Description ?

This is an authentic replacement part manufactured for use with Makita orbital sanders. The aluminum bearing box cover houses the lower bearing, and brake ring. A screwdriver is required to install the bearing box cover. Two bearing box covers are required, please note they are sold individually.

    1. Using a Phillips screwdriver, removed the 3 screws from the rubber sanding pad, and removed the pad.
    2. Placed the bearing box cover in place over the bearing box and put the rubber sanding pad on top of it, aligning the 3 holes, then reinstalled the 3 screws.
    3. Holding the sander out-of-line from my body and face, turned it on to make sure it wasn't going to fly apart on me. Worked fine.

    Missing part from discarding the original hook and loop disc

    Simply place over the bearing and attach the disc with the 3 screws.

    Pad supporting velcro-like sandpaper holder disintegrated (about 15 years old)

    1. Removed old pad. Checked parts list online. Ordered replacement pad and bearing box cover.
    2. Installed new parts. Trickiest move is getting three mount holes to line up while holding sander upside down between legs. Once you get one placed, the other two are easy.
    3. Tested - works like new.

    Somehow I'd lost this part when I'd replaced the disc holder, which had lost its little loops to hold onto the sandpaper discs.

    Remove hook loop pad using Phillips screwdriver.
    With Phillips screwdriver remove center bearing and covers.
    Replace and re-assemble reverse order above.

    Replace brake ring, bearing box cover and new hook and loop pad.

    My velcro sander pad wore out and when I discarded the old one, I threw out the bearing box cover!

    Well, after I realized that I threw out the bearing box cover, I ordered a replacement. Only three screws held the pad to the sander. Once removed, it was pretty self-explanatory on how the bearing box cover fit place. Replace three screws and you are in business!
