Product Information
Description:
This Ball Bearing is sealed on both sides. This is a genuine Makita replacement part that is sold individually.

• Ball bearings minimize friction between 2 parts in your tool that would otherwise spin and rub against each other. The balls or rollers take the load and spin, distributing the weight evenly while the minimal contact area of the balls reduce friction. This reduces wear on the tool and allows it to run smoothly.

• Bearings experience constant wear when the tool is in operation from pressure, heat, vibration and friction. Because of this, many Bearings need periodic maintenance or replacement.

Sander stopped when touched to workpiece.
After first trying the bushings to no avail I replaced the bearing which I failed to notice was seized up. The new bearing did the trick. Runs like a new sander. The screws stripped during disassembly so I replaced them and I threw in a new brake whether needed or not since I've used this sander heavily for the past 18 - 19 years.

Ball Bearing froze up
Having the instructions that came with the sander helped a lot.
Just disassembled the sander taking out everything in order and laying them out the same way on the workbench, then punched out the old bearing and replaced it with the new one. then just put everything back together the way it came out .
Like Magic it worked. Do take the time to blow it all out before assembly.
Don`t be afraid, its cheaper than buying a new one.
