Replacing the rubber pins on a Makita drill The Facts

Rubber pins misplaced? It's time to face the fix. Whether you are a master carpenter or an occasional drill-seeker, eReplacementParts.com provides the parts, procedures and facts you need to fearlessly fix what fails you.

If you are having a problem with the motor brush clips staying attached to the holders, the rubber pins (or lack of them) might be to blame. There are two rubber pins mounted in the rear cover of your Makita drill. The pins apply pressure to the brush clips and help secure the clips to the holders when the drill is impacted (such as dropping it).

Often, the pins simply fall out (and are lost) when the drill is disassembled for other repairs. The rubber pins are also susceptible to damage (such as melting) when the motor is overheated.

This article provides step-by-step instructions for removing and installing the rubber pins on a Makita cordless hammer drill.
