But unlike the pre-filter and the air filter, the inner filter provides protection from outgoing contaminants as well (primarily gasoline). Therefore, it is a good idea to inspect the inner filter for damage whenever the primary air filter is removed or replaced.

This article will show you how to easily and expertly remove and install the inner filter on a Makita DPC7311 (Power Cutter) cut-off saw.   THE FACTS  |  THE FIX  |  THE FINISH   REMOVING THE INNER FILTER  [top] 1. Remove the filter cover assembly.

Rotate the locking knob on the top of the assembly to the “unlocked” position.

 Unlock the cover

 

Lift the filter cover assembly away from the unit.

 Remove the top     2. Remove the secondary cover.

Remove the four screws.

Lift the secondary cover away from the unit.

 Remove the cover     3. Remove the air filter.

Lift the air filter away from the filter base.

 Remove the air filter     4. Remove the inner filter.

Lift the inner filter away from the filter base.

 Remove the inner filter     INSTALLING THE NEW INNER FILTER  [top] 5. Install the inner filter.

Install the inner filter on the filter base.

Press along the perimeter of the inner filter to ensure an air-tight seal.

 Seal the edges     REASSEMBLING THE UNIT  [top] 6. Reinstall the air filter.

Install the air filter on the filter base (over the inner filter).

Press along the perimeter of the air filter to ensure an air-tight seal.

 Seal the edges     7. Reinstall the secondary cover.

Install the secondary cover.

 Install the cover

 

Secure the secondary cover with the four screws.

 Secure the cover     8. Reinstall the filter cover assembly.

Install the filter cover assembly onto the saw.

 Install the filter cover

 

Rotate the locking knob to the “locked” position.

 Lock the cover
