Most of the time, this issue can be resolved by properly winterizing your lawn mower. This article will give you the step-by-step instructions to ensure a working lawn tractor next Spring.

Add Fuel Stabilizer

1. Gain access to your fuel tank

It's usually located under the hood.

 

 

2. Remove the fuel cap

Twist the cap counter-clockwise to remove from the tank.

 

 

3. Add the fuel stabilizer to gas tank

Mix some fuel stabilizer into a gallon of gas, then pour into the gas tank.

 

 

4. Replace the fuel cap

Turn clockwise to secure back onto the gas tank.

 

 

5. Cycle the fuel stabilizer into the carburetor

Run your mowers' engine for about 5 minutes to cycle the fuel stabilizer into the carburetor.

  Apply WD-40 into Cylinder

1. Remove the spark plug

Use a socket wrench to remove the spark plug from your mower.

 

 

2. Spray WD-40 into cylinder

Coat the cylinder walls and the piston.

 

 

3. Replace the spark plug

Replace the spark plug with a socket wrench.

Remove the Battery

1. Gain access to your battery

2. Remove the battery from your mower

Use a wrench to carefully remove the battery cables from the battery.

 

 

3. Store it somewhere warm

You'll want to store your battery in an area that won't drop below freezing.
