Had a broken rocker arm

1. Remove spark plug,
2. Remove valve cover by loosening the 4 bolts. Mine was a Honda engine. Careful of gasket.
3.Remover the 2 nuts holding the rocker arm in place. Mine was broken in half so I just removed the 2 nuts.
4. Installed the new rocker arm on the rocker arm stud, lightly thread on first nut. Rotate the engine crank shaft so that the piston was top dead center.
5. Tightened down the first nut just enough to slide the gauge between the valve tip and rocket arm.
6. Once the gauge was at the the right spec according to the engine specs, I tightened down the outer nut.
7. Replaced the valve cover with the 4 bolts, not a lot of torque on these bolts.

Stuck intake valve bent push rods and broke rocker arm. I had already pulled the head and removed the valve and cleaned the valve and valve guide while I was waiting for the parts to arrive.

Removed the fuel tank, starter rope assembly, removed the air shroud, removed the air filter assembly, removed carburetor, removed exhaust system, removed valve cover, removed rocker arm and push rods, removed cylinder head, removed valve from head and cleaned valve and guide, reassembled in opposite order, torqued all bolts and waited for parts to arrive. Time spent around two hours. After parts arrived I installed the remaining push rod and rocker arm, set valve clearance and installed the valve cover. Engine started on the second pull of the starter rope.
