The throat plate on the Rigid Oscillating Belt/Spindle sander is molded with a set of hollow stand-offs around its perimeter. My sander is used in a middle school wood shop and at some point something was jammed between the spindle and the throat plate. The oscillating action spun the throat plate around like a propeller, whacking it against the table and ripping the stand-offs off of the plate. The stand-offs were sucked into the dust collector. Without the stand-offs, the throat plate drops below the table and makes it difficult to accurately use the spindle sanding function.
Simple enough repair, just take the old throat plate out, remove the set screws, and put them into the new throat plate. Then put the new throat plate into the sander.
However the "half dog set screws" that level the throat plate screw into the stand-offs, and were also sucked up into the dust collector. So be aware that you need to count up the number of lost stand-offs and order extra of "Screw Set Half Dog 10/32 X 1/2
Part Number: 810993-2" as they are not a standard hardware store item.
